The 2021 Shared Open Data Innovation Contest (SODiC) has entered its final stage as the finals for digital traffic and digital city solutions, two of the eight groups under the contest’s creativity sub-category, was held in Longhua District on Saturday afternoon.

Due to COVID-19 prevention and control considerations, only Shenzhen-based judges were invited to the on-site venue in the Management and Control Center of Smart Longhua for the finals. The finalist teams and judges based in other cities joined the finals via online conferencing.

In his opening speech, Chen Jianmin, vice district mayor of Longhua District, said that Longhua has been dedicated to laying a solid foundation for smart city management. The district has seen the installation of an optical transport network, as well as the addition of Internet of Things, cloud computing and video resources. He also introduced Longhua’s big data platform, which aggregates data from around 70 municipal and district-level government service systems. The platform has thus far collected around 5.3 billion pieces of data, and with the aid of that data, 122 innovative digital applications have been developed and put into use.

The five finalists for the digital traffic group stood out from 210 teams while the five finalists for the digital city group stood out from 131 competitors. After a 10-minute project introduction, each team had to answer questions on project details raised by the judges. The results of the finals will be released on the contest’s website later this week. Longhua District will continue to roll out preferential policies to attract outstanding teams and projects to settle in Longhua to further empower its “Smart Longhua” construction efforts.
